THE hunt is on for the best local beach volleyball players to play in a competition that will be the first of its kind.
Next month, Kettering Council and Kettering Volleyball Club will be holding three days of trials to find the best beach volleyball players in the town.
The cream of the crop will then go onto compete in the town’s inaugural urban beach volleyball tournament on the July 28 at Kettering Market Place.
Valerie Hitchman, head of community services at the council, said: “The open trials will enable young people from Kettering to hone their skills before they compete in the urban beach volleyball tournament.
“The sand at the new courts is the same sand that was used for the test event last year at the Horse Guards Parade, which means that they will be playing on the same sand as Olympians and World Champions”.
All trials will be held at the National Volleyball Centre’s new outdoor beach volleyball courts.
Sessions for children aged 10 and 11 years will be at 10am to midday and sessions for young people aged 14 to 16 years will be at 1pm to 3pm.
