Homes plan for former football club to be decided

Major plans to build 80 homes on the home of a former football club are to be discussed at a meeting at Kettering Council next Tuesday (January 20).

Developer William Davis Ltd submitted the proposals for the old Rothwell Town FC ground, in Cecil Street, Rothwell, last year.

Planning officers at Kettering Council have recommended that the scheme be approved.

The site has been unused since Rothwell Town went into administration in 2012 and according to the officers’ report, the clubhouse has already been partly demolished to deter vandalism.

Rothwell Town Council raised no objection to the scheme when consulted last year, but said that there were concerns about additional traffic and parking requirements.
