Wellingborough’s HMV store has been confirmed as one of 66 to close over the coming months.
The Kettering store is currently safe from closure as well as the Northampton branch in the Grosvenor Centre.
The Swansgate Centre store is expected to close within the next six weeks.
Administrator Nick Edwards said the shops had been identified as part of an ongoing review of the company’s financial position and the group still hoped that it could secure a future for the restructured business.
He said: “This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business’ future as a going concern.
“We continue to receive strong support from staff and are extremely grateful to them for their commitment during an understandably difficult period.”
No-one from the Wellingborough store would comment on the announcement, but shoppers felt the closure was bad news for the town.
Connor Dellar, 17, of Fulmar Lane, Wellingborough, said: “It’s a bad thing for everyone.
“The internet has taken over, everyone just downloads music now.”
Jazz West, 17, of Crome Close, Wellingborough, said: “It’s not like Wellingborough has other shops which sell games, DVDs and movies. I used to go there quite a lot.”
