A brand new event is coming to Sywell Aerodrome next week with a different kind of motor set to go speeding down the runway.

Historic cars dating from the 1930s right through to the 1990s Formula One cars will take to the racing runway during the two-day event.

About 50 cars will take place at the Pistons and Props event, which will be held on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29.

Michael Schumacher’s first grand prix car, a Benetton Formula, will be one of the cars making an appearance at the event.

Twenty classic and vintage dragsters will go head-to-head on the sprint strip, and there will be a static display of more than 300 cars.

The planes will also be out in force, with Chipmunks, Tiger Moths and Tomahawks just some of the planes taking to the skies.

There will also be a vintage funfair on site.
