The 715,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility at the 150 acre Midlands Logistics Park is on schedule for completion in June.

Developers have just completed the outer steel framework and Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid was invited to mark the completion of this significant stage at what will be the largest UK facility for the £180 million turnover Europa Worldwide Group.

Mr Javid said: “Europa is building an impressive state-of-the-art facility in Corby.

“This is one of the leading UK-Europe logistics operations - it’s an example of exactly what Britain needs after Brexit.”

Andrew Baxter, managing director of Europa, said: “We’re thrilled with how our new state-of-the-art facility is now taking shape – seeing the steel frame up really does put the scale of the project in perspective.

“This is going to be our most innovative and efficient facility to date – as well as our largest – and will be “best in class” in terms of other facility in the UK.”

Europa Warehouse director Maria Torrent-March said: “Completion of the outer steel frame is a milestone for us as we move to completion.”

“Building a warehouse infrastructure of this scale within a tight 40-week programme is a meticulous process and we have to ensure each package of works is completed to an excellent standard before progressing to the next stage.

More than 2,200 people currently work at the Midlands Logistics Park, which is built on the site of a former British Steel quarry.
