NEIGHBOURS, groups, firms and schools are invited to help their town plan a right royal knees-up.
With excitement in Corby growing over the visit by the Queen in June and the Olympic Torch coming to the town, everyone is invited to make it a year to remember.
A Corby 2012 Celebration Forum has been set up to ensure the town marks the Diamond Jubilee in style.
The first meeting of the forum is on Wednesday, from 5.30pm to 7pm, in the council chamber at the Cube and people are being urged to go along with their celebration ideas.
Whether it’s a street party, sporting event, community get-together, exhibition, a Diamond Jubilee tea party or an Olympic-themed fun day, the forum wants to hear your ideas.
The message is simple – let’s wave the flag and make it fun.
Corby Borough Council’s lead member for community Cllr John McGhee said: “The celebration forum is a chance for the community to come together to discuss their plans, find out what others are doing and to get advice for their own events.
“We have so much to look forward to this year and hopefully by offering a co-ordinated communication group we can encourage and help others to get involved and give the people in and around Corby a range of exciting celebrations to join.
“We are welcoming all community groups or individuals with plans in the pipeline and look forward to hearing their ideas.”
At the first forum meeting there will be a briefing on the Diamond Jubilee, the Olympic Torch Relay, a jubilee celebration planned for Coronation Park, Corby, advice on funding support from the borough council and a discussion session.
