Help for residents after river bursts its banks

Firefighters helped residents in Grendon where a river had burst its banks earlier today.

Crews were called to Main Road in the village just after 10.15am.

A fire service spokesman said: “We were called to Main Road in Grendon, where the river had burst its banks.

“The fire service rendered assistance to residents of the area that had been severely affected by the water.”

At around midday today (Saturday) the A45 eastbound was shut between the Wilby Way roundabout at Wellingborough and the Barnes Meadow flyover at Northampton because of issues with standing water.

But police confirmed that the road had been completely re-opened at around 4pm.

Insp Carl Sturman said there had been no injuries and the traffic was back flowing in both directions as normal.
