TV star John Anderson was on hand to blow the whistle on a football club’s fund-raising fun run.
The Gladiators favourite visited Corby Hellenic FC to start their fun run at their Burleigh Drive ground on Tuesday.
The event was held to raise funds for the club’s end-of-season presentation and early estimates are that it raised around £1,000.
All 10 teams the club runs got involved.
Claire Moorehouse, one of the parents who organised the event, said: “It was really good – we took a lot on the day and we still have a lot of sponsorship money coming in.
“All the managers came and dressed up and we are looking at making it a yearly event. Even the nans and grandads came down to take part.
“John Anderson was absolutely fantastic. The kids loved him, the parents loved him and he gave all the children a medal and signed autographs.
“And he started the race in true Gladiators style. We’d like to say a big thank you to him.”
The teams are now set for a trip to Butlin’s to take part in a seven-a-side tournament.
Anyone interested in joining the club can come to training sessions at Burleigh Drive at 6pm on Tuesdays.
