Hammer and garden tool used to threaten owner during armed robbery at Corby Post Office

The robbery took place at the Post Office in Willowbrook Road, Corby, early yesterday morning (Wednesday).

At about 5.45am, two men entered the store with one armed with a hammer and the other with a garden edging tool.

A police spokesman said: “The two men threatened the owner and tried to smash the till open but were unsuccessful.

“They made off with scratch cards and cigarettes.”

The offender armed with a hammer was about 6ft, 20 to 35-years-old with a slim to average build.

He wore dark tracksuit bottoms with a white logo on the left thigh and a thick white stripe down the leg, a black jacket with white logo on the left breast and a black and white scarf.

He wore dark trainers with a white band around the sole.

The second offender who was carrying a garden edging tool was white, about 6ft, 20 to 35-years-old and of medium build.

He wore a Burberry-style baseball cap and a checked scarf over his face, possible a khaki jacket and black tracksuit bottoms with a thick white stripe down the leg to just below the knee.
