Halloween passes quietly in Kettering area

Halloween passed quietly in the Kettering borough, with children egging a house in Rothwell one of very few incidents.

Officers patrolled the area and gave out sweets to well-behaved trick or treaters.

Police said the only incidents took place in Rothwell and Burton Latimer.

In Rothwell, youngsters were caught egging a home in Horsefair Lane while other youths were causing a nuisance in Moorfield Road.

In Burton Latimer, alcohol was confiscated from one person in the Churchill Way no-alcohol zone.

Elderly people’s homes were routinely visited and four Safer Community Team officers patrolled a large number of streets in Kettering as part of Operation Pumpkin.

PCSO Jayne Breeze, of Kettering Rural safer community team, said: “We were proactive in many of the rural areas and lots of trick and treaters were stopped and spoken to and given sweets.

“The parents thought it was a great idea following the talks we had done in local schools around Halloween safety.”
