A gym that celebrated its first birthday earlier this month is going from strength to strength.
Steps Fitness Club in Bridge Street, Rothwell, was opened by Marc Bates a year ago. Mark took exams in gym instructing after being made redundant from his previous job and worked as an instructor for a year before opening Steps. He said: “I went from production work to work as an instructor. It’s going well. We have a growing membership of men and women, of mixed ages and fitness levels.”
Members are given a free personal programme that is reviewed every six weeks and the gym is open to everyone aged 16 and older, seven days a week.
Marc added: “We don’t tie people into contracts and offer a smaller gym with good personal service. As people aren’t on contracts we have to work harder to keep them.”
There is a cardiovascular room with resistance machines, x-trainers, treadmills, rowers, bikes and a stepper, a weights room with free weights and benches and a vibrogym, as well as changing rooms and lockers.
The gym offers various payment and membership options including pay-as-you-go and has ladies only sessions. There are also incentives such as a free month’s membership after six months.
Marc recently introduced a new meal service at the gym so members can buy healthy frozen meals to cook at home.
