Green light for plan to build dozens of apartments in town

Developers say they are thrilled planning permission has been granted for 59 apartments for older people.

The Later Living development, which will be built in St Mary’s Road, Kettering, will be aimed exclusively at those aged 60 and above.

The apartments will be privately owned and will include features aimed at older people, such as a shared lounge, guest suite, laundry room and a lift.

There will also be a dedicated house manager and a security entrance system, as well as 24-hour emergency call points. All properties are low maintenance and energy efficient.

Gill Sabin, regional sales and marketing director at project developers McCarthy and Stone, said: “Everything we do is built around a belief that later life can be rich, rewarding and fulfilling, which is why we’re thrilled to be bringing a new offering to the town.

“As specialists in later living, we understand what our customers want – a low maintenance property offering independence and security, to help get the most out of later life.”
