A CHARLES Dickens touring play backed by the Victorian novelist’s great, great-grandson classic will visit Kettering later this spring.
The new version of Great Expectations by the Baroque Theatre Company will be at The Lighthouse theatre, Thurston Drive, on May 25 and 26. It was created to celebrate the bicentenary of Dickens’ birth.
It will bring to life the story of Pip and his Great Expectations, including much- loved characters Estella, Magwitch and Miss Havisham.
Dickens’ great, great-grandson Gerald Dickens, a playwright and director, has acted as consultant on the show. He said: “I am delighted to be associated with Baroque Theatre Company’s production of Great Expectations, this being my favourite Dickens novel. With a fantastic array of characters and a story appealing to all ages, this is a great celebration of Charles Dickens in the theatre: something he would certainly approve of in his bicentennial year.”
Tickets for the performances are available by visiting www.lighthousetheatre.co.uk or calling the box office on 01536 414141.
