Glennis Hooper: 200 columns... and plenty to say thanks for

The 12th Crazy Hats Walk at Wicksteed Park

Back in April 2006 I started writing a blog; blogs being the latest thing back then.

I called my blog One Crazy Lady and the name (and the photo) seems to have stuck, due mainly to the similar name of our breast cancer charity.

The previous editor of the then Evening Telegraph apparently liked my style of writing and invited me to write a fortnightly column for the newspaper.

And here we are, in March 2014, some eight years later, with a new editor, and I am submitting my 200th column, having kept copies of all the other 199.

They make fascinating reading and looking back at them, there certainly have been some crazy episodes in my life.

There have also been many quite serious issues to write about too but, in general, my life doesn’t seem to have changed a great deal apart from growing older, hopefully a little wiser, gathering wrinkles and enjoying life as best I can.

I feel privileged and honoured that I should be asked to continue to write for what is now the Northamptonshire Telegraph because I find there is always something to write about and I genuinely enjoy writing.

I feel proud that I have been able to share with readers the work of our charity, and that of my life, and to have the opportunity to thank them for such amazing support.

It is quite apt, that on such a momentous occasion, I have another opportunity to express my thanks to everyone who took part in our recent Crazy Hats Appeal 12th Annual Walk.

It truly was a remarkable day; probably the best atmosphere we have ever experienced; helped enormously by much-welcomed sunshine and such wonderful people.

Heartfelt thanks to you all – more news next time!
