Plans are well under way for a town’s annual carnival and parade.
This year’s Raunds carnival and fun day is being held on Saturday, September 14, and the organisers, Raunds Youth, have already had bookings for performers, traders and people wanting to take part in the parade.
Secretary Maureen May said: “It’s going quite well, we’ve got the same number of entries as last year and we expect the usual last minute rush. People can enter the parade right up until the day before. The theme this year is Anything Goes so people’s imagination can run riot.
“We still need volunteers to help on the day with setting up and pulling down, marshalling and car parking.
“Everyone is welcome and it’s always a good day for Raunds and the surrounding areas.”
The carnival will start from Brick Kiln Road at midday and will parade through the town to the Amos Lawrence Park in Stanwick Road, where the fun day is being held.
The fun day, which also starts at midday, will include lots of activities, stalls and games for all ages as well as live bands and a beer tent.
This year’s event is being held in aid of the charity Clic Sargent which helps the parents of seriously ill children.
