The Leicester Tortoise Society is holding a session for people to bring along their pets who have just come out of hibernation.

The “Wakey wakey, rise and shine” health check is being held at Warkton Village Hall, near Kettering, between 1.30pm and 4pm on Saturday (April 5).

Tortoises can be brought along to be weighed, measured and checked for lumps and bumps. They can also have their mouths inspected. If any problems are detected, tortoise owners may be advised to take their pet to the vet.

Anyone can turn up, but there is a small nominal charge to cover the cost of hiring the village hall.

The society is a registered charity.
