Youngsters will be able to build sandcastles while their parents relax in a deckchair when the beach returns to Wellingborough.
Next month will see the return of the popular attraction with a new location in Market Place.
As well as the sandy beach, there will be buckets and spades for the children, deckchairs for the parents and music for all as well as fairground rides, a photo wall, cake sales and a tombola.
Wellingborough’s Business Improvement District (BID) is organising the event taking place from August 6 until August 27.
The event, which is now in its fourth year, gives visitors to Wellingborough the chance to experience the seaside in the town centre.
This year’s event ‘Coast on the Cobbles’ gives an opportunity for the council and Wellingborough Norse to work with the BID to attract new traders and promote the market.
It is hoped that this year’s event will be bigger and better than previous years and the council will be supporting the event by supplying Punch and Judy entertainment for the four Saturdays the beach is on, encouraging and enlisting new traders to the market for the beach and beyond and assisting with the promotion of the event.
In a bid to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians visiting the beach, the council has said it will be necessary to suspend the use of eight of the eleven parking bays (of which six are for disabled users) on the market.
For the duration of the event, blue badge holders are advised that they will be able to park as usual on yellow lines for a maximum period of three hours provided they clearly display both their badge and clock and don’t cause an obstruction.
Signs will be put up shortly to give advance warning that these spaces will be temporarily suspended.
Anyone interested in becoming a trader on Wellingborough Market can contact Wellingborough Norse on 01933 234520 or go to www.wellingborough.gov.uk/market.
