Children and young people are invited to take part in the Get Involved programme at The Core theatre in Corby.

A new series of weekly classes starts on Saturday, January 12, at the theatre in the Cube in George Street.

The Get Involved programme offers weekly sessions in dance, drama and digital arts, as well as week-long courses during the school holidays.

It is going from strength to strength, and last summer’s Film In A Week course was shortlisted for the Northants Film Awards under 16 category, before winning Corby’s Positive Activities Group’s visual arts award.

The programme’s Corby Young Dancers has also received recognition, being selected to take part in the regional NDance Festival this February.

This term’s Get Involved weekly programme includes Moves Street Dance led by original B-boy Marso Riviere, musical theatre working with professional musical director Tracey Richards, Sparks junior youth theatre working on drama, story-telling and movement with theatre-maker Emma Boulton-Roe, Core Company Youth Theatre, which will be creating original drama with the theatre’s creative projects manager Lisa Byrne and Clicks media animation, led by digital artist Andy Eathorne. A second Film In A Week course is also planned for the schools’ half term break in February.

Corby Youth Arts Slam at the end of each term gives the children and young people a public performance platform to share what they have learned.

Lisa, who runs the Get Involved programme, said: “It offers a wide range of high quality creative experiences which is reflected in the fantastic work that is produced by the groups for the Slam.

“We anticipate that this year’s programme will be the biggest yet with our Clicks media animation course almost sold out already.”

Sparks Junior Youth Theatre starts on Saturday, January 12, with Moves Street Dance and Core Company starting on Monday, January 14, and musical theatre and Clicks media animation on Tuesday, January 15.

Each course comprises of 10 weekly sessions and costs £30.

The Film In A Week course runs from Monday, January 11, to Friday, January 15, and costs £60.

Places on any of the courses in the Get Involved programme can be booked by calling the ticket office on 01536 470470 and more information is available at
