GENERAL ELECTION: Philip Hollobone “honoured to represent constituency” after holding on to Kettering seat

Philip Hollobone pledged to be the voice of the people of Kettering in Parliament after holding on to his seat and increasing his majority.

The result was declared at 3.12am today (Friday) by the returning officer David Cook.

Mr Hollobone, who has been the MP for Kettering since May 2005, thanked Mr Cook and his team for their hard work and said he was honoured to represent Kettering.

He said: “I’m delighted to be given the honour of serving Kettering for another five years. I’ll do my best to represent eveyone. My job is to make sure the voice of Kettering is heard in Parliament.”

He added: “I’m sure Rhea Keehn will have a glittering Parliamentary careeer, I just hope it isn’t in Kettering.”

UKIP’s Jonathan Bullock said: “It was a fantastic result coming from a standing start and gives us something we can build on. I would like to thank my team for all their hard work over the last six weeks.

“The results of the borough elections on Saturday will be interesting,” he added.

Turnout was 68 per cent.

The full result was: Jonathan Bullock, UKIP, 7,600

Derek Hilling, English Democrats, 151

Philip Hollobone, Conservative, 24,467

Rhea Keehn, Labour, 11,877

Chris McGlynn, Liberal Democrats, 1,490

Rob Reeves, Green Party, 1,633.

Mr Hollobone’s majority was 12,590, up from 9,094 in 2010.

Counting for the local elections takes place on Saturday.
