There was reason to celebrate at Huxlow Science College with the overwhelming majority of Year 11 pupils rewarded for their hard work on results day.
A school spokesman said: “We believe very strongly at Huxlow that every grade for every student matters, irrespective of ability, so we are particularly pleased that 99 per cent of all Year 11 finished with at least eight GCSE passes,
70 per cent of these students gained at least five or more high grade passes at A* to C, with 57 per cent gaining five or more A* to C including English and Mathematics.
“Our most able students continue to achieve exceptionally well with 11 per cent of all Year 11 gaining five or more A* to A grades, and 25 per cent gaining a high grade of A* to C in every exam they sat.
“We wish all our students well in the next phase of their education at school, college, apprenticeship or employment.”
