A gas leak has closed a road in Burton Latimer, and engineers will spend the rest of today fixing it.
Station Road is closed between Kingfisher Way, near to the Weetabix Factory, and the A509 Kettering Road in the direction of Isham.
A spokesman for National Grid said there is gas escaping from a gas main in Station Road, on the approach to the railway bridge.
She added: “The escape was reported at 11.35pm yesterday (Wednesday, September 18).
“We received a call from the police reporting a smell of gas at the gates of a car park. We had engineers on site last night and they are working to repair the escape today.
“No gas supplies to households or businesses have been affected and no-one has needed to be evacuated.
“We are anticipating completing the repair by the end of the day.”
She added: “Fortunately, this case this was reported to us quickly and we were able to respond promptly to repair the escape. We would always urge people to call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 if they smell gas.
“We have had to close the road, for which we apologise for any inconvenience caused. However, there has been no impact on gas supplies or any wider effects on the public.”
