Kettering Rugby Football Club has been awarded £4,000 by Piper’s Hill ward councillors Duncan Bain and Steve Bellamy, who pooled money from their ward initiative fund to support the club which is located in their area.

KRFC club president Bob Wheeler, who received the cheque, said: “We are delighted to accept the donation which will be used to upgrade the club’s pitches by improving drainage and levelling them off, making them usable for training more often.”

The club has 400 mini-rugby players who train regularly as well as 30 colts players and five senior teams.

Cllr Bain said: ”Steve and I are very pleased to donate the money which will benefit youth in this ward, the borough and beyond.”
