Fun for kids all paid for by the region’s Rotary clubs

Most of the Rotary clubs in the district hosted the Annual KidsOut Day for disadvantaged children which took place at Wicksteed Park last week.

More than 40 Rotary clubs were involved from as far afield as Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Bedfordshire, as well as Northamptonshire.

A total of 2,100 children launched themselves on the park’s facilities and enjoyed a day out, all at Rotary’s expense.

The children from the district’s schools, who were supervised by their own teachers and carers, were given free T-shirts with the KidsOut logo emblazoned on the front and matching caps.

There were more than 200 Rotarians on hand to help look after the youngsters at the event.

The Rotary Club of Kettering Huxloe took on a mammoth task by hosting no fewer than 275 children, with more than 150 carers, all from the Kettering area.

The Rushden club employed the use of two coaches to transport children from six junior schools in Rushden and Higham Ferrers to the park.

A very good day was had by all 2,100 children.
