Shoppers in Wellingborough have said free parking and convenience are the two main reasons they shop in the town.
The Wellingborough BID Marketing Review of 400 people highlighted a need to attract more families to shop in the town and a need to encourage people to stay for longer, with 77 per cent of those surveyed spending less than two hours shopping.
The review said: “Free parking and the convenience of getting in and around Wellingborough were the two standout attributes of the town, from a shopper’s perspective.”
The study was commissioned by the Wellingborough Business Improvement District (BID), which is paid for by town centre businesses and organises events and promotions to encourage people into the town. The results will be used to form an advertising campaign to attract more people into Wellingborough in 2015.
