Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership is co-hosting a business advice event

People who have started their own business, or are thinking of setting one up are invited to a free business start-up event.

The event is for anyone thinking about starting a business, or anyone who has started a business within the last year.

It will be hosted by Northamptonshire County Council’s library service and Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP), who are collaborating to offer a range of information resources and a series of free workshops, including business planning and social media training, and will take place on Friday, January 31, from 10am to 1pm, in Northampton Central Library.

Aspiring entrepreneurs will be able to get information and advice from banks, accountants and a range of local business support organisations. The event will also provide an opportunity to meet like-minded business people in the area.

There will also be question and answer sessions hosted by local people who have recently set up their own business with the support of NEP and the library service.

NEP business support manager, Colin Lewis, said: “Starting a new business can be a positive life-changing experience. It can also bring major challenges. These can be met head-on with the right kind of professional one-to-one support, training sessions and networking opportunities.”

County council deputy leader and cabinet member for customers and communities, Cllr Heather Smith, said: “The business start-up events are part of a range of events and activities offered by libraries to equip people with the skills and confidence they need to develop their business idea from concept to market, plus libraries also offer access to a wealth of advice and information to help fledgling businesses in the early stages.

“This event will highlight the support available and demonstrate why starting a new enterprise can be a shared and much less daunting experience from the very beginning.”
