Cllr Graham Lawman, chairman of the market working group, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with our traders to provide a fun day of festive activities and entertainment on the market square on Saturday, December 3. “There will be a bouncy castle, a cine-bus showing Christmas films as well as appearances by festive character favourites.

“Our market square is an important part of Wellingborough town centre and has a lot to offer, especially during the Christmas season.

“These activities will provide something for the kids and encourage shoppers to come and enjoy the market during this event in December and beyond.

“This is the first of a number of events that we hope to run to promote a package of improvements, the first phase of which has been approved and will be implemented in the new year.

“We’re also looking to increase our trader offering - being a market trader is a great way to start a business and we’d like to hear from anyone who’d like to give it a go, whether just for one day a week or for the full four days the market runs.

“All our stalls have fixed metal roofs and lighting as well as free off-site parking for stall holders, with help and guidance and incentives for new traders to ease their start-up costs.”
