Fraudster claimed thousands

A BENEFITS cheat claimed up to £10,800 after conning the system.

Mum of six Angela Blackford, 30, of Cardigan Place, Kettering, appeared in court on two charges of failing to notify the town’s council that she was living with her husband.

Kettering Magistrates Court heard this would have affected her housing benefit and council tax benefit.

She had pleaded guilty to both offences at an earlier date.

On Thursday, she was given a 12-month community order by chairman of the magistrates Adrian Foster.

This included supervision and a 12-week curfew, which will be in force between 10pm to 6am.

The court heard that she has already made arrangements with the council to start paying it back.

The charges related to two periods from February 2008 to January 09, and between April 2009 to September 2010.
