Former EastEnders star gets Christmas under way in Kettering

Former EastEnders actress Cheryl Fergison switched on Kettering's Christmas lights last night in front of a crowd of hundreds.

The former soap star will be appearing in the Beauty and the Beast panto at Kettering’s Lighthouse Theatre this winter.

Cheryl and other members of the cast, including Beauty herself, appeared at the climax of the event in the Market Place.

The event was hosted by Connect FM and there were also appearances from The Sherburt Dips, Father Christmas and a real reindeer.

Huge crowds turned out despite the confirmation earlier in the day that American actress Lindsay Lohan would not be attending despite a promise earlier in the year.

On the night several members of the Rotary Club of Kettering Tresham (and Father Christmas!) collected money for Home Start Kettering.

The club wants to thank everyone who helped to raise a total of £153.
