A fork-lift truck was used to rip out a cash machine during a ram raid on a shop in Irchester.
Offenders used the fork-lift truck to steal a cashpoint from a shop in the High Street at about 2am this morning.
They put the cash machine on the back of another vehicle and made off from the scene.
In a series of tweets Wellingborough Council said: “We’ve got people on site helping to deal with the unsafe building.
“It looks like the building may have to be demolished.
“We’re expecting gas and electricity to be off very soon and we’ll post further updates when we know more.”
The road is currently closed and buses are being diverted.
Route X46/X47 will be unable to run via Irchester High Street until further notice.
Buses to Rushden and Raunds will be unable to serve Irchester and will run direct to Rushden via the A45.
Buses to Wellingborough and Northampton will run via Irchester Station Rd - A45.
Buses will stop if signalled to do so opposite the Carpenter’s Arms.
A shuttle bus will be provided between Ircester Post Office and Wellingborough.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information about it.
They would also like to speak to anyone who may have been a fork lift truck and another vehicle approaching Irchester shortly before 2am this morning.
