A football club has launched a Just Giving project to raise money in response to a break-in at the clubhouse last weekend.
Rothwell Corinthians have started the appeal following the latest break-in at the Desborough Road team’s clubhouse.
A television was stolen by thieves, but the club says they also stripped pipework from the clubhouse’s showers, toilets and roofspace, causing water damage to other parts of the building, which was discovered on Easter Monday (April 21).
The club says such break-ins could even be a threat to the survival of the Corinthians, adding: “As a club run by volunteers for local players, this has hit us hard and anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated.
“We cannot allow mindless vandalism to ruin the town’s club.”
It is asking for donations in order to cover insurance premiums and also help tighten security measures at Sergeants Lawn.
Meanwhile, Northamptonshire Police has said it has offered crime prevention to the club in order to prevent similar incidents occurring there in future.
