Follow your dreams

Hello, my name is Jessica Parnell and I am nearly 14 years old. I want people to believe in themselves and never give up, like I nearly did.

I have now realised my school has given me some great opportunities, like taking part in the BBC school report and writing for the school magazine when there was a massive event happening in are school.

Also in history I chose to write a biography instead of making T-shirts and banners.

In English my teachers say I am one of the best in my class because I focus when I write and work hard, also I am one of the highest in my class.

In drama I get a higher mark in evaluating than the actual performance.

In my spare time I have written some mini-stories. Also I used to write in my journal daily but I usually forget or I am to busy now.

When I emailed the Telegraph I didn’t have a clue what they were going to reply. I just had to sit back and wait patiently.

When they did reply they gave me the opportunity to write articles for them.

I had a very hard time figuring out what I was going to write about. I had absolutely no idea about what I was going to do, I was lost, completely.

I wanted to give up so badly because I thought it was too hard. At that moment in time all that was going through my mind was to quit and give up.

But I had done so much to reach this point in my life and I wasn’t going to throw it all away a turn back so soon.

That’s where it ended, or technically started, writing up this article by hand just to get it right.

At the beginning all I had was a piece of paper, a pen and one massive dream.

Thanks to the Telegraph my dream was turned into reality, also my life has a new beginning. This is the life for me!
