Direct Workforce has branches all over the country, including Corby, and the national firm chose Lakelands as its charity for 2015 and raised £4,341.

Employees across the company’s five branches committed to raise money for the charity, with staff taking part in numerous events throughout the year.

These included a walking challenge across the Four Peaks in the Lake District in June, a trek across the Grand Canyon in October, a triathlon and other local events such as race nights, family fun days, plus donations collected from their branch’s monthly ‘dress down days’.

Janine Hipkiss, Direct Workforce managing director, said: “It has been a real pleasure to raise such a great amount of money for a cause that is clearly central to the families and community of Corby.

“Taking part in the Four Peaks as well meant I got to experience fundraising first hand and when you’re doing it for a cause you believe in, it only drives you to push yourself even more.”

Paul Marlow, fundraising manager at Lakelands, added: “As a charity that receives no government or NHS funding we rely solely on the dedication, generosity and willingness of people like the Direct Workforce team.

“The organisation and effort that they all put in is truly inspirational and I hope they’re very proud of what’s been achieved, they are all Lakelands legends.”
