Teenage singing sensation Faryl Smith, from Kettering, has helped launch the DVD of the Sir Bobby Robson 80th birthday celebrations.

Faryl, 17, sang at the star-studded event at The Sage in Gateshead in February, which marked what would have been the birthday of former Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson, who died in 2009.

Sir Bobby had counted Faryl as one of his favourite singers, and she sang a duet of the ballad Barcelona at the event alongside Russell Watson. Sir Bobby also used to manage the Spanish club.

The charity evening raised £80,000 for the foundation set up in Sir Bobby’s name, and the DVD sales will help add to that total.
