Young farmers will have something different to get to grips with at this year’s annual show.

Farrington Oils is supporting the Northamptonshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs by launching a new slippery challenge at this year’s Annual Country Show and Rally in Denford Ash, near Thrapston, on Saturday, May 24.

The lively event involves lots of competitive challenges throughout the day from craft competitions to dog agility trials, and baking contests to pig racing.

The Farrington’s Oil Slide Challenge is a unique event which will test the competitors’ agility and team tactics, as they attempt to make the longest and most stylish slide.

It consists of a gigantic flat slide covered in Farrington’s Northamptonshire-grown rapeseed oil, and various props ranging from a tin bath to inflatable lilos.

Duncan Farrington, of Farrington Oils, a former Thrapston Young Farmer, said: “Young Farmers are renowned for doing silly things for charity and we came up with this idea that I am sure they are going to put their usual creative spin on.”
