A charity pool competition will be held in memory of a man who died suddenly earlier this year.

Bob Preston, 49, of Kettering, died in his sleep from asthma-related natural causes in January.

He was a keen mountaineer and hill walker and one of the last things he spoke about was his plan for 2012 to do a sponsored mountain walk to raise money for the young person’s cancer charity Clic Sargent.

Bob was inspired to plan this challenge after his nephew Tom developed non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Tom is now in remission.

His family is now honouring his intention to raise money for Clic Sargent but rather than climbing mountains will stay closer to home and organise a pool fundraiser at his local pub.

It is open to Bob’s family and friends from 2pm on July 7 at The Shire Horse pub in Kettering. It will include a buffet and playing pool is not obligatory. To register call Duncan on 07917 405449 by July 6. To donate money visit www.justgiving.com/robertpreston.
