An extra 231 car parking spaces are now available in Corby town centre thanks to the new Savoy cinema.
The Victoria Place car park situated to the rear of the cinema, off George Street, gives immediate access to the cinema, restaurants, Corby East Midlands International Pool, Corby Cube and the range of shops within the town centre.
The additional car park has disabled user bays and is 60p for two hours parking in line with Corby Council’s car park located behind the Corby Cube, off Westcott Way.
The new car park will cater for cinema customers but will also provide additional parking for town centre visitors during the quieter cinema times.
Leader of Corby Council, Cllr Tom Beattie, said: “Corby town centre is growing into a vibrant and popular place to visit during the day and night and as such it is important to provide additional car parking spaces as it grows.
“The prices have been kept in line with our other town centre car parks to ensure that all are equally utilised by customers and are affordable to use.
“These new spaces will cater for those who want to visit the town in the day and, for just 20p to park from 6pm to midnight, are perfect for those who want to watch a film in the evening.
“Car parking charges ensure that spaces are equally available for customers and are not abused however it is important that these are affordable and we feel in Corby that our car parks are set at a very reasonable rate.”
Low car parking charges in Corby’s town centre has also been carried across to car parking at Corby Train Station which is £3.50 for the whole day.
Permits for the station car park can be purchased, for regular users weekly, monthly, three monthly, six monthly or yearly.
Tickets can be bought from the pay and display machines at the station or from the main ticket office within the station and permits can be purchased from Corby Council’s commercial property team by contacting 01536 464653 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
