Exhibition will mark D-Day anniversary

An exhibition opens at Corby Heritage Centre tomorrow on the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.

It will feature Corby’s preparations for war, a heroic dog on Stephenson Way and the part the town’s steelworks played in Operation Pluto (Pipe Line Under the Ocean), making steel tubes for the pipeline which supplied fuel for the Allies.

Corby Council’s heritage champion, Cllr John McGhee, said: “The Pluto project is very close to Corby’s heart.”

The exhibition will run until August 30, Monday to Friday from 1pm to 4pm and also on Saturdays from 11am to 2pm.
