Exciting Corby community project on hunt for members - and a venue

Corby Men’s Shed will be a space where people can come together to share skills and experience, take part in practical activities and socialise, and is supported by Royal Voluntary Service, the national volunteering organisation, and the UK Men’s Sheds Association.

Corby Men’s Shed will be open to both men and women.

Designed and run by their members, community Sheds provide opportunities for local people to share tools, resources and expertise and to make things.

Members meet and make friends and learn skills like furniture restoration, joinery, metal work, mechanics or photography.

The Shed’s organising committee is looking for people with management experience and traditional craft skills to set up and run the Shed. It is also looking for a suitable space to locate the Shed.

Abigail Hurrell, Sheds Project Manager at Royal Voluntary Service, said: “We hope that local people, groups and businesses will join together with us to find a home for Corby Men’s Shed, to get it off to a successful start and to help it grow.

“We are delighted to be supporting it and look forward to meeting as many people as possible at our launch meeting on October 11.”

There are more than 460 Sheds in the UK with more than 11,000 members.
