Electric car drivers will have more charging locations to choose from when more points go live in Kettering.

New chargers will be available from tomorrow (Monday) in the council-run School Lane and London Road car parks, with further charge points going live in the Commercial Road car park by the end of the month.

Cllr Mark Dearing, Kettering Council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “It is fantastic to see the roll out of our electric vehicle charge points, which is in-line with the council’s plan to reduce harmful emissions and provide greener alternatives for transport.

"Electric vehicles have numerous environmental benefits and we are glad the charge points can now be used within Kettering.”

Each location has four specially-marked bays each so vehicles can be charged on a ‘plug and go’ basis.

Using the points incurs a cost with Kettering Council offering two-hour charging slots in the marked bays.

Shirley Plenderleith, head of public services at Kettering Council, added: “We are proud to have installed new electric vehicle charge points in Kettering and they demonstrate our continued environmental commitment.

"It’s convenient for those who already own electric vehicles and we hope it will encourage more people to consider making the switch.”
