Employees at Weetabix have smashed their £5,000 fundraising target for Comic Relief.
The firm’s Charity Champions organised a series of activities at the firm’s sites in Burton Latimer and Corby, and, together with the efforts of employees at the firm’s Ashton-under-Lyne site in Lancashire, raised £13,000 for Red Nose Day.
Starting on February 9, the charity champions organised five weeks of activities including a talent show, a promise auction, bake sales and fancy dress, and the firm promised to match any money raised.
The cereal firm is also donating 5p from every special edition pack of Weetos, Weetabix Minis, Ready Brek and the new limited edition Weetabix Strawberry it sells to Comic Relief. This year’s Red Nose Day raised more than £78 million.
