Residents in east Northants are being asked for their views on parish councils as part of a review by East Northants Council.

Following the completion of the review of electoral divisions for Northamptonshire County Council, the parish review has begun and will run for 12 months.

In the first stage of the review, comments and proposals are being invited from any individuals or organisations with a view on whether any of the current parish boundaries or parish council arrangements in East Northamptonshire should be changed.

The last review took place in 1998 and its proposals came into effect in 2000.

Comments on the review must be received by the council by Sunday August 4.

A working group will look at the comments received and come up with draft proposals which will be published on October 28.

There will then be a further period of 14 weeks for people to comment on the specific proposals before final recommendations are made to council in April 2014. Any changes to parish boundaries would come into force for the parish council elections in May 2015.

Residents are asked to submit their thoughts on the review by email at pandp@east-northamptonshire.gov.uk, by telephone at 01832 742099, or by writing to Review of Parish Arrangements, East Northamptonshire Council, Cedar Drive, Thrapston, NN14 4LZ. People can also hand a letter in to the council’s customer service centres in Thrapston, Oundle and Rushden.

More information about the review can be found at www.east-northamptonshire.gov.uk/parishreview.
