Cllr Steven North has been re-elected as Leader of East Northamptonshire Council.
He is leader of the ruling Conservative group and a member for Rushden Sartoris ward.
Cllr Glenn Harwood, who represents Higham Ferrers Lancaster ward, was voted in as deputy leader.
Cllr North is honoured to be re-elected in the council’s 40th year.
He said: “I’m very pleased to be re-elected and looking forward to a busy year as we build on our successes.
“We’re now into our third year of Council Tax being frozen and are using New Homes Bonus funding to support community projects from Kings Cliffe in the north of the district right down to Rushden in the south.
“We’re still waiting for a decision on Rushden Lakes but work continues with the Rushden project board on delivering housing and jobs to the area.
“We’re also pleased that other development opportunities across the district are coming along, including Oundle marina.
“We face some challenging times ahead but we want to reassure staff and residents that we will do all we can for the prosperity of the people of East Northamptonshire and the businesses who are based here.
“I will lead on this work as part of a team and look forward to working with members of all parties and officers on making East Northamptonshire an even better place to live work and visit.”
