DISILLUSIONED Poppies fans have said they will pick and choose games rather than buy a season ticket after their team was relegated.
The idea of watching Kettering Town play teams like Workington and Vauxhall Motors in the Blue Square Bet North may prove a turn-off for fans already unhappy at travelling to Irthlingborough for ‘home’ games and some have already said they will take it game-by-game.
The family of lifelong fan Vince Geranio, 44, of Hawthorn Road, bought five season tickets this season, but the barber is unsure how many games at Nene Park he will attend next season.
He said: “I didn’t go on Saturday; that’s how bad it is.
“I’ve missed more games this season than I have in 40 years as a fan.
“I think a lot of people will call it a day. I definitely won’t be buying a season ticket next season.”
Gareth Watson, 31, of Regent Street, said: “My season ticket ended up in the bin on Saturday. I left when it was 2-0.
“Hopefully next season with new ownership it will do us good in the long run.
“As long as we don’t drop lower and we get the right manager instead of the cheapest option.
“But I’ll be doing it pay-as-you-go next season.”
