Dogs showed off their skills at a canine extravaganza event.

Wellingborough Dog Welfare held the event at Wellingborough Town Football Club on Monday, June 4.

Karen Haywood’s collie Ellie won Best In Show on the day.

Best Wellidog was Angel, and Charm and Crystal, owned by Liz Andrews, won Best Novelty.

A dog named Alfie won the Agility competition.

On the day dogs had the chance to have a go at Agility during sessions run by Oakcharm Agility Club, and Flyball and Obedience demonstrations were carried out by The Northants Falcons and Cogenhoe Dog Training Club.

Chris Baldwin and Annette Leslie demonstrated Heelwork to Music and Alistair Bray of LoneWolf did a stunt with his collie Faze with the help of some of the children who had come along for the event.

Lilian Clipstone-Roome from Wellingborough Dog Welfare said: “This was the biggest thing we have ever done and it was successful beyond belief.

“Our volunteers, judges and stewards did a splendid job, and our sponsors for the day were Wellingborough Town Football Club, Spoiled4Choice, Easipetcare, S & R Motors, Pets at Home, Jollyes Pet Foods and EJ’s Little Stars.

“We received a super donation from Kettering Dog Training Club and that, together with funds raised on the day, will go towards our veterinary and kennelling fees.”
