Discount store to open in Kettering tomorrow

Bargain Buys is opening in Northfield Avenue’s Northfield Retail Park in the unit most recently-occupied by Poundworld Plus.

The store is the fifteenth old Poundworld shop taken over by Bargain Buys’ parent company Poundstretcher.

It has created 30 jobs in total with many staff retained from the old Poundworld shop. Across the country more than 300 jobs have been created.

Executive chairman Nadir Lalani said: “We are pleased to be opening a brand new store to the people of Kettering with loads of fantastic branded products, all at bargain prices, and look forward to opening another 50 stores over the coming months, creating more than 1,000 jobs.

“The team is working hard to deliver an outstanding shopping experience, great service, and an enjoyable shopping environment for all our new customers.

“We are expecting massive queues for our opening day only specials, so come early to catch the bargains.”

The mayor of Kettering Cllr James Burton will open the store with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10am tomorrow.

To mark the opening Bargain Buys has more than £3,000 of opening day giveaways.

The first five customers in line for the store’s opening will receive a Hyundai black curved fireplace for £29.99 (RRP £229).

The next 10 customers will grab themselves a Hyundai steam mop for £14.99 (RRP £39.99), and then the next 15 customers will take home a glass TV stand for £9.99 (RRP £49.99).

The next 175 customers will get a washable rug for £4.99 (RRP £9.99).

Bargain Buys say they will be expecting huge queues for the deals, with previous openings seeing customers queuing from the early hours of the morning.

The store was previously called Bargain Buys as recently as August 2017, before being re-branded as Poundworld Plus.
