Organisers have expressed their extreme disappointment at the cancellation of a music festival planned for next month.

The Picnic in the Park had been due to take place at Boughton House on Saturday, July 13, with jazz star Courtney Pine headlining.

But the event, part of the Oundle International Festival, has had to be cancelled after not enough tickets were sold to make it viable.

Andrew Forbes, the artistic director of Oundle International Festival and Oundle Music Trust, thanked people for their understanding and support, and has said anyone who has already bought tickets will be refunded.

“It is with great regret that Oundle Music Trust and Boughton House has had to make the decision to cancel Picnic in the Park on in order to protect the charitable interests of the Trust,” he said.

“The event is currently unsustainable and we cannot cover the extensive costs involved. It is hard to express our extreme disappointment at having had to take this decision after so many months of planning.

“We’d like to thank all our ticketholders for supporting Picnic in the Park and reassure you that all tickets will be fully refunded.”

To obtain your refund please either visit Oundle Box Office, 4 New Street, Oundle or call 01832 274734.
