A couple who have spent almost their whole married life in their Corby home are today (Saturday, November 2) celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.
Hatty and Bert Campbell married in 1953, with the family moving to Corby – where Bert already worked – from Aberdeen in 1954.
The Campbells, who have three children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren – with two more on the way – are celebrating with 40 family members this evening.
Mr Campbell said he was pleased to have so many relatives living nearby, adding: “We always support one another as a family.”
Their daughter Thelma Graham said: “They are brilliant parents. They still help look after the great-grandchildren. They have just worked hard together – they came down (from Aberdeen) with very little.”
