Desborough’s Post Office is to close for two weeks next month for refurbishment work.
Once complete, it will open for an extra 22 hours a week.
The branch, in Havelock Street, will close at 5.30pm on Tuesday, May 12, and not open again until 1pm on Thursday, May 28.
Once it is open, there will be three serving positions, an open-plan counter, a modern screened position and a Post Office serving point alongside the retail counter offering selected services which will be available during shop opening hours.
The branch itself will open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm, with selected products and services available during shop opening hours which are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5.30pm, and Sundays from 7am to midday.
This will increase opening hours by an extra 22 hours a week, including Sunday mornings and Saturday afternoons.
The branch will also open significantly earlier.
While the branch is closed for refurbishment customers are asked to use Rothwell or Market Harborough’s post offices instead.
Post Office area manager Alan Ridoutt said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will meet customer needs.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.
“The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
