A number of organisations will be receiving handouts from Desborough Carnival at its annual meeting tomorrow night (Wednesday).
A total of £3,000 will be split between 44 organisations at the meeting, which takes place at 7.30pm at the Indoor Bowls Club in High Street.
The cheques will be presented by the carnival court to representatives from the organisations, with next year’s committee also being elected at the meeting.
Carnival chairman Michael Crick said: “Once again the people of Desborough, despite the current economic climate, have shown their generosity and supported the carnival.
“A big crowd and good weather on carnival day enabled us to raise a large amount again this year.
“We are extremely pleased to be giving away this money to support a whole range of organisations in the town from young people to the senior citizens.
“The carnival brings together everyone in the town and is the biggest event in Desborough’s calendar.”
Groups receiving £150 will be Desborough Town Welfare, Vine Community Trust, St John Ambulance, Montsaye music dept, Havelock Infants School, Loatland Nursery School, Havelock Juniors School and Loatland Primary School.
Those receiving £50 will be the Heritage Centre, Hazeland House, Desborough & District Wildlife, WRVS Welcome Club, Friends of Desborough Library, URC, KGH Radio, Firefighters Charity, Parkinsons Society, Desborough Community Transport,
Talking Newspapers, Havelock Cheerleaders, Pocket Park, District Explorer Scouts, Re-brassing lectern, URC Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers, Cubs, Cubs II and Scouts, Desborough in Bloom, Junior Football Club, District Guides, Sunshine Pre-School,
Millennium Green Trust, Desborough Youth Centre, St Giles Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers and Guides, St Giles Holiday Club, Over 60s at Indoor Bowls Club and Desborough Social Club.
