Two people have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle following an attempted burglary at Corals bookmakers Desborough in the early hours of yesterday.

Officers were alerted to an alleged attempted break-in at the bookmakers in Station Road in the town at about midnight on Monday.

Nothing is believed to have been stolen.

A 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both from Corby, were arrested in Riverside Way, Islip, a short while later in connection with the incident. A vehicle was also seized.

Both men have been released on police bail.

The shop was boarded up yesterday morning and closed to customers.

Assistant manager Emma Wilcox said: “This isn’t the first time we’ve been the victims of crime. Staff were held up here in May and the shop was closed after a ram-raid a couple of years ago.”

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact the police.

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information about it, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
